Three Reasons Why Fall Is the Best Time to RV (See You in September!)

Updated: Sep 12, 2021

Summer is winding down, and you haven't gotten a camping trip in yet. You kept meaning to, but somehow, life got in the way, those days just slipped by, and it didn't happen. Well here's a little secret: you still have plenty of time! There's no rule that says summer is your only time to camp. In fact, it isn't always the best option, and there are lots of reasons to consider fall for your next RV outing. September in particular offers some of the finest days and nights for your outdoor adventures - here are but a few reasons why.

First of all, the kids are back in school! Crowds are thinner and campsites are available, which means you can get that site you’ve had your eye on. Looking at one of Fish Lake’s waterfront campsites, or one of those sweet wooded spots at Stewart State Park or Lake of the Woods? Chances are, you’ll have a much easier time grabbing the best spots after Labor Day. Many folks think that holiday marks the end of the camping season, opening things up for those of us who have a little bit of flexibility in our schedules.

And then there’s the cost factor: once summer peak season ends, rates drop. Travel costs almost always fall after Labor Day, and that is true for RV rentals as well as many parks. You can save a fair amount of money by planning your travels in the “shoulder seasons” - fall and spring - perhaps allowing for an extra night or two out.

Finally, there’s the weather… September - and early October - often boast the perfect temperatures for camping in southern Oregon. Average temps run from the upper eighties during the day to low fifties at night in the valleys; in the mountains you’ll typically see those averages range from the mid-seventies to the upper forties. Coastal weather is often at its finest in the fall, too, and offer a respite from warmer days when inland temps rise, or a dose of sun when days get a little cool. So whether you’re in the mountains, valleys, or out at the coast, you’ll find the days are milder, and the nights cool enough to enjoy a huddle around the campfire - or a cuddle under a comforter.

The moral of the story: it’s always a great time to RV! Sweet Dreams RV Rentals is waiting to help you get out, and enjoy all that September has to offer! Get a free quote or reserve your RV adventure now!
